THE APSLEY COLLECTION

웰링턴의 첫번째 공작(1st Duke of Wellington)이였던 Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley의 런던 타운하우스였던 인상적인 Georgian building인 Apsley House의 이름에서 따온 면도기이다. 웰링턴 공작은 19세기 영국에서 국사 지도자이자 영향력있는 정치인으로 널리 인식된 인물로 1815년 워털루 전투 (the Battle of Waterloo)에서 나폴레옹을 성공적으로 패배시킨 뛰어난 군사적 업적을 세운 인물이다. 많은 세월동안 Apsley House는 'Number One, London'으로 알려졌는데 나이트 브리지 (Knight briade)의 톨게이트이후 지방에서 오는 방문자들이 첫번째로 지나는 집이였기 때문이다. 1771년에 세워진 주택으로 현재는 그 당시 영국 귀족의 타운하우스의 잘 보전된 전형으로 여겨진다.

THE APSLEY COLLECTION

The razor is named after Apsley House, an imposing Georgian building once the London townhouse of Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. The first Duke of Wellington is widely regarded as the leading military figure and a powerful political influence of 19th Century Britain. His greatest military achievement is also considered one of Europe’s finest, that of successfully defeating Napoléon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. For many years, Apsley House was known as 'Number One, London', since it was the first house passed by visitors who travelled from the countryside after the toll gates at Knightsbridge. The house (built in 1771) is currently the only preserved example of an English aristocratic town house from it’s era.
