CONCEPT

Vector는 현대적인 3피스 싱글엣지 안전 면도기 (safety razor)로 싱글엣지 Artist Club-style 면도날을 사용한다. 100% 미국에서 디자인되고 가공되고 포장되어 판매되며 부피가 크고 무겁고 무게중심이 무너진 많은 기존 Artist Club razor들을 대체하기 위해서 출시되었다. Artist Club blades는 매우 성능이 좋음에도 불구하고 그 면도날을 위한 면도기는 개선의 여지가 많았다. 긴 면도날의 절삭선이 한번의 면도질로 많은 부위의 털을 제거할 수 있지만 그로 인해 지나치게 무거운 면도기 헤드가 필요했다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 Blackland Sabre에 도입한 방식을 채용하여 나사선있는 포스트 (threaded post)를 수정하여 Artist Club blade를 삽입할 수 있게 하여 면도기 헤드를 최대한 작게 디자인하였다. 기존 Artist Club razors의 헤드가 50그램의 무게였다면 Vector head는 17그램에 불가하다. 또한 Vector head는 기존 면도기 대비 전후 길이가 절반도 안된다. Vector head의 중앙에 핸들이 체결되는 구조로 다른 면도기와 달리 완벽한 무게 중심을 실현하였다.

CARING

Vector의 좁은 나사선 포스트로 인해 체결시 주의할 사항이 생기는데 핸들과 포스트를 정확히 정렬하여 천천히 체결해야 하는데 만약 저항이 느껴진다면 다시 풀고 다시 체결을 해야 한다. 그렇지 않으면 핸들과 포스트의 나사선이 망가질 수 있다. 핸들이 성공적으로 캡으로 조여지기 시작하면 끝까지 조여주면 된다. Vector는 견고하게 제작되어 기본적인 관리로도 몇 세대를 거쳐 사용할 수 있다. 소재인 stainless steel는 부식에 강하지만 완전하지는 않기에 물기가 있는 면도날을 장착된 상태로 보관하면 표면 부식이 발생할 수 있다. 면도날을 면도기와 분리하여 완전히 건조가 되도록 보관하는 것을 추천드리며 가끔 비누와 부드러운 헝겊으로 깨끗하게 씻어주는 것을 추천한다. 거친 타월이나 브러시로 닦는 것은 표면 손상을 초래할 수 있어 추천하지 않는다.

The Most Compact and Intuitive Single Edge Razor

CONCEPT

The Vector is a modern three-piece safety razor that uses single-edge Artist Club-style blades. It is designed, machined, and finished in the United States. We made the Vector in response to the bulky, heavy, and unbalanced Artist Club razors that have entered the market in the last few years. While Artist Club blades perform exceptionally well, the razor platform has left much to be desired. The long cutting edge of the blade aides in removing large swathes of hair in a single pass, but that size also makes it easy to make an overly hefty razor head.To solve this problem we took the same approach that has worked so well in the Blackland Sabre. The threaded post has been modified to allow the Artist Club blade to slide over it, allowing the razor head to be as small as possible. How small? While other stainless steel Artist Club razors have heads that weigh close to 50g, the Vector head is a featherweight at just 17g. And the Vector head is less than half as wide from front to back as the others. Additionally, the Vector head is centered over the handle providing perfect balance rather than being front-heavy like the competition.

CARING

The narrow threaded post of the Vector requires additional care when assembling. Align the post with the handle and thread the handle on slowly at first to ensure proper thread alignment. If resistance is met, back the handle off before attempting once more. Forcing a misaligned handle may damage the top cap and/or handle. Once the handle has begun to successfully thread onto the top cap, screw the handle on as normal. The Vector is robustly built and will last many lifetimes with basic care. While stainless steel is resistant to corrosion, it is not immune. Tea staining or surface corrosion can occur when wet blades are stored in the razor. We recommend loosening the handle of your Vector in between shaves to allow the blade and razor to fully dry, preventing corrosion. Clean your razor occasionally with a mild soap and soft cloth. We do not recommend scrubbing a polished razor with a coarse towel or bristled brush as it may damage the finish.
